Dear friends,
God has blessed this ministry richly in 2025. He also has challenged us to fill the gap of the many notable Christian leaders we have lost this year, such as Dr. John MacArthur, Dr. James Dobson, Charlie Kirk, and Dr. Voddie Baucham. Mere words cannot express the gratitude we have for these spiritual and courageous warriors who were faithful in their calling to serve others for Christ. Their books, recordings, sermons, articles, etc., will continue to change lives for eternity.
The year started for me with a kind honor from South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster. On February 5, he awarded me The Order of the Palmetto, South Carolina’s highest civilian honor, given to South Carolinians who demonstrate extraordinary lifetime achievements, contributions, and service of national or statewide import. The award cited my work in ministry, public affairs, and military service. Noted was my 50-year involvement in advancing K-12 Christian and homeschool education in founding Frontline Ministries, Inc., and as director of Exodus Mandate. My single vision in exposing the spiritual, academic, and physical dangers of government schools to children has drawn parents, pastors, and Christian leaders to the work of the Christian education of our youth.
Throughout 2025, the Lord has kept me busy with radio interviews, including Bott Media “Faith in Action”; Sheri Few with U.S.P.I.E., Alex Newman with Liberty Sentinel and “Conversations That Matter”; Andrew Brunett with “Faith Chats”; and Public School Exit’s Summer Series. In March, I had a booth at the Greenville Presbyterian Theology School and made many new contacts. I also had the opportunity to give a 45-minute presentation on “The Promise of Jonadab” in September at Dr. Carl Broggi’s Community Bible Church in Beaufort, SC. I was also quoted in a lengthy article in the September issue of Harper’s magazine, the oldest news analysis and feature magazine in the U.S., founded in 1850. The article “The Homemade Scholar: A New Frontier in American Education,” was favorable of Christian schools but was also pro-voucher. I had three paragraphs supporting Christian education but mentioned that I was not in favor of vouchers. Add to that the myriads of phone conversations, meetings, Zoom calls, print interviews, etc., as I share the vision and mission of our ministry to folks all over the country.
In SC, we had severe thunderstorms with torrential rain, more than usual this spring and summer. In the ministry office we discovered a serious mold issue in my own office and closet area. We had to pack up hundreds of books, move bookcases to the garage, and throw away moldy items. We hired two separate mold remediation companies to work in their separate areas of expertise. We primed and painted the walls and closet, placed carpet squares in the closet and purchased a larger dehumidifier. Not having a contingency plan for something like this, we depended on assistance from you, our donors, and we were blessed to receive the funds we needed to complete the project.
I was asked to make a Zoom presentation on Public School Exit’s Summer Series on How to Educate with Purpose on August 21. My topic was How to Build a Christian Family: The Promise of Jonadab. Thirty minutes goes by fast, and I was able to share how Gail and I raised our children and why we wrote a book about Jonadab, whom we consider the greatest dad in the Bible.
As I continue to serve Christian Education Initiative (CEI) as chairman emeritus, Gail and I attended the CEI Summit VI Conference, Advancing Christ’s Kingdom Through a Biblical Worldview Education, September 25-27 in Lynchburg, VA. The godly and gifted speakers such as Alex McFarland, Max Lyons, Alex Newman, Jeff Tuomala, Anthony George, Scott Masson, Leigh Bortins, Cal Beisner, Lisa Dunne, and Marlene McMillan, were encouraging, inspiring, enlightening, and challenging. CEI recorded all the sessions, and it is available on CEI’s website, www.Christedu.org.
Most recently, it was my honor to present the 2025 Dr. Robert Dreyfus Courageous Christian Leadership Award to Dr. Ted Baehr in Atlanta, at the Movieguide® gala there. Please, read the attached news release explaining why he was chosen for this year’s award.
Please, pray with us as we ask God to continue blessing our efforts in reaching Christian parents and pastors with the message of K-12 Christian education and homeschooling. As long as the Lord keeps opening new doors of opportunity for me to share and blesses me with good health, I will continue to insist that Christian children need Christian education. My health is good, but Gail and I both feel the limitations of our age. She has had three major surgeries this year on joints that have lost cartilage, and I have been chief caregiver.
